Haute Couture 101 – My Summer Essentials

A bikini is always a good idea

– Unknown

Because, it’s summer!

Even though, there’s really no summer in Nigeria. Just very, very, very hot afternoons and oddly timed rainfalls. I love summer! In Nigeria, we might not have a legit summer but we definitely have a summer culture. I’m talking pools, bikinis, beaches, cabanas, summer food, clothes, summer jams and parties, even summer school! 😂

On my Summer Essentials list are,
My Top & Skirt set by 7th Avenue. This is easily my favourite of the lot. The Top is everything. The watermelon print is so summer and so pretty, paired with a leather skirt. I know, I know, summer is not leather and vice versa. That’s why I love it, honestly. Haute couture doesn’t follow the rules. It’s an unlikely pair but it works! Sparkle, print, pink and leather. It’s like Summer’s greatest creation.

My current obsession, Richard Branson’s Virginity. I’m telling you, it’s a great read. Richard is a very witty writer and that really shines through in his books.
My Daily Journal, because planning is key. If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail!

My Order Book, this helps me to really follow my orders to a Tee. Some people have apps for this but you can’t really beat an old-fashioned book. It was put together by @theideaartillery.
My Dapmod shades, the Sun is hot. These sunglasses save me all the time.

My make-up essentials

My Maybelline powder, because I love a popping face. My Zaron face definer, Zaron blush, Zaron eye liner, which I’m serious, is the best in the west and Zaron perfect finish. My Naked 4 eyeshadow pallete, the colours are a beautiful summer and the ever-classic, Mac Ruby Woo.

My Beverly Hills Polo perfume, I love that it’s so miniature. It makes it easy to carry around, I can literally slip it into the tiniest clutch purse. It’s a life saver! Especially, in these hot, smelly times.
My minimalist earrings from Tope Crystal. Very chic and minimalistic, I really adore these.

My Susen sling bag, extremely summer-ery! Easy to toss stuff into and very light. It’s a hundred percent my go-to bag this summer.

What’s on your summer essential list? I’d like to know. You can tell me some of them in the comment section below.

I’ll be having a flash sale pretty soon. Next week Wednesday actually, on Instagram, @kharyna_7thavenue and @official7thavenue. All the pieces are new designs and are very limited. The piece above will also be featured. So, fastest fingers and serious buyers only.

I can’t tell you how excited I am. Overjoyed is an understatement, I’ve been working on this with the most amazing team for a while and to finally be up and running, it’s tremendous.
I would bore you with what haute couture means but you probably know already. Haute couture is so dear to me and that’s one reason I started this blog. To explore, celebrate and show off haute couture, in my original, created and creative work of course.

An Overview Of The Blog
From style posts to haute couture pieces worn by me, kharyna7thavenue.com will have it all. I have divided the blog into four categories or menus that I would explore every week in turns.

My Style Story

This is the basic fashion or style post where I put up pictures and a post attached of me wearing haute couture pieces, tailored by me, of course.

Collaborations with fellow fashion designers, style and fashion bloggers, photographers, models, stylists, brands, products, fashion enthusiasts and more.

Trends, Rants, Features etc

Here, I will explore trends, I will rant, put up features, reviews etc. Weekly trends, monthly picks, social media fashion frenzies et al. In this category, it will be all about the latest, top of the food chain, ridiculously stylish fashion trends. It will also be a rant fest for me. I am guilty of always speaking my mind and here, I shall. Features and reviews will also be posted. I’m dying to post what I actually think about some things I’ve come across lately and I can’t wait for feedback from you guys.

Journey Through Stitches – The Series

If you’ve ever seen my feature on The Semi Writer called Behind The Tacks With Olateju A, it will be something like that. Journey Through Stitches – The Series will feature stories, interviews and posts outlining the journey of various fashion enthusiasts and affiliates including fashion designers, bloggers, models, stylists and others.
It’s a lot of work, yes but it’s also going to be a lot of fun. You should totally click the follow button on the blog and subscribe to be up to date on all of it as they happen.
